“Tribal Heartbeat”

A piece commissioned by a woman who was committed to supporting the indigenous cultures in pre-Mandela South Africa. She traveled to South Africa purchasing native goods; baskets, dolls, jewelry, and sculptures; returning to sell them in the US. The items incorporated into her Life-Mask are from her travels there.
